Another Two nights! Cockerham Quarry

Post by Dlowry on Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:19 am

Set up on early thursday, after a half and half my Dad landed a 26lb mirror. The rest of the day, the fish where on consent feed, but nothing else over 10lb where landed. Next day was slow, no one else on lake, I had the only fish of the day which was a 18 and 1/2lb common which was a recapture (had it the year before at 17lb). Friday the lake got really busy, with anglers who didn't care about anyone else which in resulted everyone fishing ontop of each other, don't think we will be returning that often now because of it intill it gets 100% sorted out. I ended up with 15 fish and Dad ended up with 12.

hi there! nice capture with the 26lber! ive just joined the forum, im thinking of heading down to cockerham quarry next week (tuesday till wednesday).

Ive never even seen the place so i was wondering if youd be willing to share a bit of info on it- such as wheres good to fish, any rigs that work better than others etc, heavy baiting, light baiting? does it get rammed mid week too?

whats this new lake like? - ive been having a torrid time lately on a lake in witherslack in cumbria - goodness knows how many sessions and only one fish, so really need to get a bend in the rod!

cheers

Its not the hardest water around, the littlen in there always stop a blank.Theres no right or way of doing things on there bait wise, location anywhere on the lake really but some parts have more water (its margin fishing anyway but more water the better when it gets busy). Rigs wise not much to say caught on all sorts and haven't really seen a differance.

You should be fine on tuesday, we are deciding to go next week or not or jump on one of the sunnys. Don't really know much about the new lake, it contains about 60 fish upto 16lb.
